The aim of the Bluedog Protective Coating website is to provide consumers with an informative, factual details about our range of temporary protective coatings which roll on and peel off and provide 12 months of protection.

Bluedog Protective Coatings are all proudly made in Australia and formulated to protect non-porous surfaces which are free of any blemishes, weathering or erosion which would make the surface potentially porous, therefore unsuitable for our product which is designed for NON POROUS.

It is beyond Bluedog Protective Coatings control to ensure the suitability of our product/s on differing surfaces due to the myriad of potential substrates and surfaces, the application method of such and the condition of the intended protection area/s. The onus is entirely on the person/s applying Bluedog Protective Coating to thoroughly test and evaluate the suitability of our liquid protective coatings for the intended use prior to application.

SURFACES

We strongly recommend every customer test our product in an inconspicuous area prior to coating the entire area. The sample area should be left to dry, over a reasonable period of time to evaluate how easily our temporary protective coatings are able to be removed from non-porous surfaces.

Bluedog Protective Coatings provide our range of surface protection coatings in the understanding that customers are using our product in an environmental outside of our control, therefor the customer assumes all risks and liabilities for the results of the product use, which is proven to remove easily when used in line with the application information provided.

This information is based on our understanding of the product and the details of information ( health, safety and environmental requirements ) available to our management & website development team who do not offer any guarantees regarding our protective surface products.

STORAGE

Bluedog Protective Coatings are designed to be able to be stored unopened for up to 12 months in a clean dry area. The lids must remain sealed and completely airtight. If lid is opened, to keep remaining product usable for 3 months ( potentially up to 6 months ) the lid MUST be sealed & airtight when replaced.

WARRANTY

Bluedog Protective Coatings offers NO WARRANTY for our range of protective coatings due to the fact our products are used in an environment which we are unable to controlled ( factors outside our scope of warranty control ).

The customer buying our protective coatings assumes all risk and liability for the results as they are required to read, understand and abide by all of the coating instructions ( including test sample area, surface preparation, PPE, application instructions, drying time and removal process ) whilst using our protective coatings. Bluedog Protective Coatings use an extremely unique formula which has been tried and tested by all of Australia’s largest building companies over multiple decades so we know our coatings easily peel off when applied and removed in line with our detailed directions.

PROTECTION PERIOD

Coverage, cost and protection period are guides only as actual coverage, costs and protection periods achieved are determined by the substrate surface to be coated as well as the application technique used. For extended protection additional coats can be applied.

COVERAGE

For best results we recommend the use of an ELCOMETRE when applying our coatings, to be able to measure the “WET FILM THICKNESS” which is measured in “um” ( the symbol for “microns” ).

Each Bluedog Protective Coating container product label states the required thickness of the protective coating ( ranges between 200um – 300um depending on the specific coating and location ) as well as the coverage ( ranges between 4m2 – 7m2 per Litre depending on product ).

SAFETY

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information is made available to everyone however we are required to record and document each applicant accessing this information. Our SDS information is specifically designed for any person handling the product.

PRE-APPLICATION PROCESS

Bluedog Protective Coatings strongly recommended all users first apply a small test patch in an inconspicuous location prior to proceeding with the entire protective coating job.

PREPARATION

Any surface you are looking to apply our protective coatings should be clean & dry. It is recommended to use our protective PE & PVC tapes to protect edges and nearby surfaces, drop sheets can be used to reduce any need to clean surrounding areas.

APPLICATION

Stir coating thoroughly prior to application. Bluedog Protective Coatings should only be applied with a Roller ( 10mm polyester NAP ), our products are not designed to be applied with a paint brush or spray guns.

Apply a thick even coat ensuring thicker edges to ensure easy removal.

Always leave a thin gap ( approx. 5mm ) around the edge being coated and we strongly recommend a thicker edge coating to ensure easy removal once product has dried and protection is no longer required.

Our product is designed for one (1) thicker coat ( refer to minimum required thickness ). Ensure you use the appropriate PPE and apply the product in an adequately ventilated area.

For best application apply when there is no predictable / forecasted rain for at least 6 hours. Please use an elcometre to check the wet film thickness in a variety of locations the coating has been applied ensuring the correct application thickness.

DRYING TIME

Normal drying times range from 30 – 60 minutes ( approx. guide only ) noting that drying times vary based on environmental / application factors cooler or humid conditions. The product requires approx. 24 hours to obtain tensile strength, easy removal.

CLEAN UP

Bluedog Protective Coatings are a water-based formula and can be safely washed up in water. DO NOT pour contents or washings down drains or sinks. Dispose of as per your local council regulations.
